About the Course
The workshops are run by Francesca Mclean, an Illustrator and Calligrapher living in Salisbury, with an MA in Illustration from Camberwell College of Arts. She loves to work with gouache and ink stamps to create illustrations and pattern designs inspired by the beautiful English countryside. Francesca combines calligraphy with her illustrations to design bespoke wedding stationery, as well as being commissioned to create calligraphy place settings for various events.
During this workshop you will learn the beautiful art of modern calligraphy using ink and nib in a relaxed workshop environment, with professional illustrator and calligrapher Francesca Mclean. You will start by understanding the basics of how to use the nib with simple exercises, moving on to writing the alphabet in calligraphy. By the end of the session you will be joining letters and writing words with lots of guidance and demonstrations from Francesca. The workshop is designed for absolute beginners, so no experience is necessary.
There will be no more than 8 people per workshop to ensure everyone has lots of one to one tuition.
All materials are provided, including a starter kit which you will take home with you to continue your calligraphy practice including ink, calligraphy nib/pen holder, worksheets, paper and clipboard.
