1 Day Introductory Workshop in Roman mosaics.

Max 6 students, minimum 2
One day workshop suitable for complete beginners and those with some experience £95.00 per person

One image that comes to mind when you think of Roman mosaics is the lifelike figures. Starting with some fairly simple examples you will learn the principles of this type of work. You will learn about The Rules and how they can be seen in every mosaic from ancient times, then you'll apply them in your own work. There are plenty of patterns to choose from and I will teach you the principles of this type of work so, if you wish you can continue to create accurate copies of Roman mosaics at home.
You also have the option of doing a geometric pattern using one of the tracing patterns I have. The choice includes borders and motifs.
The mosaics are purely decorative ones and we use an unglazed ceramic tile as this is the best to start with. Other materials on request, this may be available at an additional cost. I do go over technical details of mosaic work too.

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

What's included in the price?

All materials are included in the price. We use unglazed ceramic tesserae which are easy to cut. There's plenty of tea and coffee, you only need to bring something for your lunch.
