This is an intermediate course ideal for those who wish to prepare a personal digital portfolio to present your creative work to further education, or to be used professionally to present your work to potential employers or clients. This course is designed to help edit and refine to create a showcase to present your knowledge, abilities and skills to a prospective audience. You will learn how to effectively show the development of your ideas and creative processes from initial stages of research and concept, to the final outcome.
You will edit, develop and transfer your work into a digital format to create an online presence to help present your best work.
By the end of the course you will be able to
Select and scan the best examples of your creative work to show evidence of research and development of ideas, techniques and processes to your subject specialism
Use Adobe Photoshop to prepare and edit images (upload, copy, cut, paste, save, move, erase, scale, add colour and text) to present
Create an effective digital portfolio, considering layout.
Create an online portfolio presence using Adobe Behance and/or Pinterest and/or online portfolio using publishing platforms (Adobe Spark and/or JooMag).
Class format and activities
Teaching will be both in groups and on a one-to-one basis, with students being given constructive feedback on the outcome of the tasks you will take part and on your homework. During the lessons you will be presented with demonstrations of digital techniques and processes, given instructions to learn technical and practical skills by using Photoshop. You will be involved in different learning activities to enable you to practise and develop digital skills by using Adobe applications.
You will also participate in individual presentations and group discussions to be able to improve on your presentation skills. You will be given some practical and technical advice on how to keep continuously updating and having an online presence creating an online portfolio by using Adobe Spark and publishing platforms like JooMag. The knowledge and skills that you learn will help you on how to present your work in a more creative and aesthetic way by producing an imaginative and professionally executed portfolio.
In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
• Previous learning or professional experience is desirable.
• Knowledge and ability to use a PC is essential.
• Understanding and following instructions in English is essential.
• Examples of previous and present work created by the learner to be brought to the first lesson.
What you need to know before you enrol
The course is very intensive and punctuality of your attendance is necessary. Most practical activities involve being in front of a PC screen for a number of hours. Please disclose in advance if you have any special learning and educational needs, visual impairments or experience difficulty tolerating screen light.
What you will need for your class
USB (memory stick), notebook, pen or pencil and examples of your previous and present work.
