Brilliant day learning millinery with Rachel Warrillow.
I had never had a go at making a hat or fascinator but have wanted to for a while even buying a few supplies since summer last year. I had seen online tutorials but never had the confidence to start a piece by myself. I think working with sinamay you definitely need a guide the first time so I decided to treat myself to a craft course which I found on this site. The location was ideal and I loved Rachel's website and creations.
There is a certain way to cut the fabric, heat and shape it that you couldn't learn as well online. I think the course is good value and you can get a lot out of it. The class size was small allowing an abundance of tutorial time and materials per person. I made two final pieces as well as shaped sinamay we practiced along the way (eg. roses, bows). Rachel is happy to share advice, supplier details and is generous with individual attention. She was kind, engaging and approachable. I enjoyed myself and definitely can't wait to make more pieces!
