About the Course
This workshop is great for a group of adults or a birthday party for slightly older children with an interest in fantasy. Participants attend 'magic school' for a day, and enjoy a variety of different activities, from how to make a wand with its own personal properties, creating fantastic potions and other fantasy props to creating realistic-looking face prosthetics and costumes. They can also learn to duel with a wand like the actors in Harry Potter, create fantasy props and costumes like those in Lord of The Rings and Skyrim, and roleplay epic adventures, where you and your friends can ride dragons, bring down trolls and hunt down pirate treasure!
Inspired by the principles and techniques of Live Action Roleplay and Dungeons & Dragons, workshops feature ‘linear’ adventures, similar to LARP encounters, in which the players can assume a character and go on a quest involving a series of obstacles and puzzles. Then take a look at some of the tools and techniques used in industry in the form of immersive fantasy 'lessons.' The activities are all fantasy themed and can feature a whole variety of things from hero fighting and wand combat to drama improvisation and escape-room style problem-solving.
This workshop is appropriate for all kinds of occasions from birthdays parties and local craft events to school groups, with relevant topics in literacy, numeracy and drama.
