When I enrolled for this course I didn't know what to expect. Well, I was so pleased I did. It was amazing how the colours and array of colours which could be used together and produce a spectacular scarf which is unique.

I've been on two courses and they were both really great. I had never tried silk painting before but with Ruth's explanation, patients and encouragement I throughly enjoyed it. The courses are set in beautiful surroundings and you get to make new friends, I went with my daughter and when we got in the car to leave we both commented about how relaxed we felt.
I would highly recommend these courses, not only do you come away with some great art work and a fabulous silk scarf, you also come away feeling stress free and relaxed.

Although I have been doing Watercolour painting for a few years, I have never painted on silk, and imagined it to be very difficult. Therefore it was with some trepidation that I struggled through the snow to Ruth's house. However, there was absolutely nothing to worry about. Ruth was such an enthusiastic and patient instructor that whatever technique we used we all seemed to produce something wonderful. We had a really lovely day and I, for one, found the whole experience very therapeutic. All those who have seen my finished scarf have been very impressed and interested in trying it for themselves. Thank you Ruth, not only for all the coffee, but for a wonderful experience. I hope to be back again soon.

Thank you for a lovely day in a beautiful setting with copious amounts of coffee and knowledge. A fun and interesting time was had by all and we had the pleasure of Ruth's expertise, enthusiasm and generosity. I urge you to book, you'll have a great time and come away with new skills and a scarf that will amaze your family and friends.

A completely different experience for me. I’m not artistic and would never have thought of signing up for a Silk Painting course, especially having seen the beautiful scarves Ruth has produced. However, she persuaded me to go along and try it, and I had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Ruth was just so generous with her time and suggestions – and endless cups of tea and coffee! I not only amazed myself with the scarf I made but friends couldn’t believe I had achieved anything so pretty. There was much encouragement all round and fun to see what other folk had created. A wonderful course and one I would highly recommend anyone to have a go at. A very special thanks to Ruth.

I have never tried Silk painting before and Ruth made it a wonderful experience - you could not ask for a better instructor. She explained everything clearly and concisely and nothing was too much trouble. She allowed me to be creative and allow my artistic side to run free with her beautiful colours and wonderful silks. I have a lovely scarf that every time I wear gets wonderful compliments. I am planing to return with my daughters for a course in the summer and I would totally recommend The Arty Silkworm to anyone who would like to try a new craft and have a beautiful hand made item to take home and wear. You will truly have a one off item.

Having never done any shibori work, or worked with silk this course was the best introduction we could have had. Ruth's enthusiasm and attention to detail, whilst giving us total artistic freedom, was brilliant and we came away with a beautiful and unique silk scarf totally created by ourselves. Ruth was very generous with all the materials used and had a huge array of beautiful colours, I was totally blown away by the way platinum looked on silk!
Thank you Ruth for a lovely, educational and relaxed day, and for all the tea and coffee, will definitely be back again.
