About the Course

Create useful objects from your old clothes.
In this five week course we will make a unique item for your home each week. Using reclaimed fabrics and a variety of textile techniques you will create beautiful items such as peg bags, pot holders, shopping bags, reusable make up wipes / make up bag and cushion covers.

Jayne will bring along her colour coded fabric stash to work with, but do feel free to bring in your clothes, jumpers and scraps to turn into unique pieces for your home. We will also be up-cycling doilies, curtains and net into new fabrics to use in our makes. This course is suitable for all abilities, even those who have never used a sewing machine before.

Jayne is the author of 6 craft books, including New from Old, The Impatient Patchworker and Boho felt Crafts. She has been designing textiles for over 20 years and has sold her work to clients such ranging from Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Dior to M&S, John Lewis and Boden.

You can turn any of our courses into a short break by staying in our on site accommodation. When you book a residential package you will get discounted accommodation in our stylish boutique hostel located in the centre of Cirencester in the Cotswolds right next door to New Brewery Arts. Our former 19th Century Cotswold stone brewery barrel store has been beautifully transformed into 21st century accommodation, light and well-appointed with a craftsman’s attention to detail. We offer guest accommodation for up to 43 people over two floors in 14 rooms, with a choice of single, bunk, family and double bedrooms, 12 with en-suite facilities. A ground floor disabled-friendly room is also available. The hostel provides a stylish communal dining and relaxation area, self-catering kitchen, laundry facilities and lockers for your bike. As with all our courses and workshops these are led by experienced tutors and as you will be part of a small group there is plenty of time to focus on you.
