About the Course

This one day workshop is for people who want to explore the joys and benefits of keeping a sketchbook, the original Mindfulness.

Learning to look and see the wonderful around you in everyday things.

Observational sketching and drawing what is in front of you, including drawing from life.

Exercises in drawing from your mind’s ‘snapshot’

Externalising ideas and the mindfulness of keeping a sketchbook,
value sketches and experimental work.

Developing sketches and ideas towards compositions and Artworks.

The workshop includes demonstrations, discussions and exercises.

Yorkshire Artist, Ruth Buchanan has kept a sketchbook since childhood. She is passionate about drawing and communicating that passion to others, and keeping a sketchbook is the basis of the passion. She describes it as her meditation, her history, her workflow process and sometimes her sanity!
