Join artist Julie Galante for this online workshop in which you’ll make a series of paper collages using a variety of approaches and techniques.
Collage is a way of creating a visual work of art by combining different elements - be they found images, patterns, bits of text, textured papers - in new and sometimes unexpected ways. We’ll explore collage through a series of tutorials covering different ways to create balance and visual interest, using a variety of subject matter (landscapes, faces, found poetry) as inspiration for our creations.
This workshop is suitable for absolute beginners, as well as those with experience who’d like to explore new approaches to making collage.
This online workshop does not work to a particular time frame, you can complete it at your leisure, at a time convenient for yourselves.
This workshop includes access to a series of instructional videos and demos, all in all the equivalent of around two days of workshop activities, which you can work through at your own pace. Additionally, participants will receive a custom kit of collage papers via post (first class postage to UK addresses is included).
There will be a short list of supplies you’ll want to gather — things such as scissors, glue, and inks or watercolours, which many of you will already have on hand. You'll also want to start collecting your own collage materials to use along with the kit - items such as magazines, newspapers, and other printed papers.
