At Cowshed Creative, we run an extensive range of art, craft and heritage workshops in our beautifully converted art studio. Treat yourself to a creative experience on our traditional family farm in the heart of the Lake District. From the fantastic and consistent feedback we have received, you are sure to have a great day!
Gelli printmaking is a form of mono printing, where you take just one image from your plate. It’s fun, quick and messy, with magical results. There is no need for a printing press or any previous printmaking or drawing and painting experience.
It is an ideal introduction to printmaking using a range of simple techniques to create your own prints. You are welcome to forage on the farm for material if you wish.
Karen Lester enjoys working with a range of painting and drawing media including printmaking, sometimes combining these to create mixed media images. Each type of medium brings its own exciting possibilities and unique qualities, something she continually explores. Her studio base is in the south Lake District, an area where she can spend time immersed in the landscape, a source of endless inspiration.
Karen’s work has been exhibited in galleries throughout the North West over the last 25 years and she has been involved with projects including Printfest, C-Art and Go Herdwick. Karen is an experienced qualified teacher and has been teaching in the adult education sector since 2011.
This workshop will be at Cowshed Creative, based in a converted Lakeland barn on our traditional family Farm. The art studio is a stunning open plan space with plenty of room to wander outside and take inspiration from the amazing Lakeland landscape and environment of the peaceful Kentmere valley. Make it a special break and stay in one of our luxury camping pods on the farm. Check out our website for details.
