About the Course

Our 2020 inspiring workshop programme at Cowshed Creative is now on OUR website (purple tab above) with full details and info on how to book.

Experimental Monoprint is an ideal introduction to printmaking using a range of simple techniques to create your own prints. Let the ink make the marks!

Working directly onto the inked plastic plate, you will use lifting and stencil techniques as well as experiment with different materials including plants, grasses, manmade materials and fabrics to create textures and marks, with opportunities to develop further layers of colour. You are welcome to forage on the farm for material and create your own stunning images.

Karen Lester enjoys working with a range of painting and drawing media including printmaking, sometimes combining these to create mixed media images. Each type of medium brings its own exciting possibilities and unique qualities, something she continually explores. Her studio base is in the south Lake District, an area where she can
spend time immersed in the landscape, a source of endless inspiration.

Karen’s work has been exhibited in galleries throughout the North West over the last 25 years and she has been involved with projects including Printfest, C-Art and Go
Herdwick. Karen is an experienced qualified teacher and has been teaching in the adult education sector since 2011.
