Experimental Fabric Collage with Jayne Emerson

About the Course
This workshop is really a creative play day where I open up my studio and its treasure trove of fabrics and machines for you to use! There is an extensive range of books for inspiration and tins full of beads and embellishments. We will explore techniques such as applique, patchwork and machine embroidery and work them together into a fabric collage that can then be framed. Groups are small so if you are a complete beginner there will be plenty of help and guidance. I always try to ensure that everyone leaves with a finished piece, however you are welcome to commence a grand project while you are here!
I teach workshops from my Gloucestershire studio covering everything from basic sewing techniques to advanced machine embroidery. You can either book on to one of my courses or gather a group of friends and create your own workshop at a date to suit you. I love to introduce my students to new skills and techniques whilst nurturing their individual styles. My workshops encourage experimentation, mess making and happy accidents, nothing is ever precise and rarely is a way of working considered wrong! I taught Kirstie Allsopp how to needle felt on her show Kirstie’s Handmade Britain and am one of her craft experts at her annual Handmade Fair. I have written five craft books and sold my textile designs to everyone from Chanel to John Lewis.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
