In-person course

Experimental etching for jewellery making

An etched and cut out image

About the Course

This 5 week workshop you will learn how to etch on copper/brass and silver.

For copper you will be provided with a sheet of copper to practice the process and then make a piece of jewellery of your choice. With silver you will be provided with a sheet enough to make a pendant drop and a small pair of earrings. If wishing to make another piece of silver Jewellery for your own project there will be a supply of silver to purchase.

You will be shown how to prepare the metal to transfer the design on to it and how to use the etching solutions to eat away the metal to create textures.

Taught by Fiona Cocks BA Hons in Jewellery and Silversmithing, and many years of teaching at Plymouth College Of Art, she will guide you through all the techniques required to create your piece.
No previous metal working experience required or it can add to your jewellery making journey.
