This course adapts the traditional two plate etching process with a twist on producing a photographic image. Improvise and corrupt a photo etching plate which will then become the basis to produce a second deeply bitten etching plate. We will then use both plates to experiment with printmaking through producing a series of colour prints and proofs, re-etching and adapting the image as the course progresses.
By the end of the course you will be able to
• to make quick fire drawings in timed and instructed exercises
• to make a series of works using gestural marks, paint/ink splatters, drips to examine the work and make considered changes by adding elements to the work or by taking away
• to re-examine and subvert, deconstruct the existing work and reconstruct to make a finished piece of work by the end of the day
