About the Course

A great 1 day course for those wishing to learn the art of Blackwork Embroidery.

Located in the centre of Carlisle for easy access to public transport and rail service.

Our Essential Blackwork Embroidery course is a great way to explore this ancient hand embroidery art for complete beginners. Discover how to shade use varying thicknesses of thread and special stitching techniques. You will learn about appropriate fabrics, how to transfer a design and read a blackstitch chart. We will be working on an evenweave fabric such as Cashel linen or Aida (the preference will be your on the day).

Upon completion of this course you will have the necessary skills to attempt projects on your own.

We keep delegate numbers limited to 10 to allow plenty of tutor contact time.

Course dates: Flexible - runs on demand.
Places available: 10
Tutor: Maire Curtis

You will be able to borrow ring frames (where required), neck magnifiers and scissors on the day.
Basic skills required. No previous skill is required but you will need fairly good eye sight (or your glasses) and be able to hold a sewing needle.

Cancellation / Refund
Cancellations must be made 48 hours in advance. We will refund the course fee less the £25 deposit. In some cases, where we are able to give your place to somebody else at short notice, we will also refund your deposit less a £5 administration charge but we cannot guarantee that this can be achieved.

We reserve the right to cancel a course. Should this be necessary, we will refund all fees or offer an alternative date if suitable.

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
