Course Start DatesSaturday 29th February 2020
About the Course
We're all familiar with the mantra "fewer, better" but when it comes to clothes it's tough to do when faced with online shopping available 24/7 and cheap throwaway high street chain stores.
But, this year, instead of buying something new why not learn how to alter, repair or extend the life of something you already own ? Not only will you extend the life of your wardrobe but you'll also be adding value to the things you already have. And pick up a lot of valuable skills along the way.
Bring along all of the items you would like to learn how to alter.
As a group we will discuss the different types of alterations and how they can be employed. These will include- Shortening and lengthening garments. Repairing, darning and reinforcing. Adjusting to fit. Letting out or taking in. Repurposing. Different types of hem, couture hems. There will be best practise tips on techniques. This is not an exhaustive list by any means. It's probably best to bring a notebook.
Techniques will be demonstrated so you can have a practise beforehand.
There will be plenty of time throughout the day for discussions and to ask questions.
