About the Course
A unique opportunity to draw and paint in the beautiful gardens of Nynehead Court, Wellington, Somerset. This one day course is led by artist Caroline Mc Millan - Davey. She works mainly in oils. Her work has been widely exhibited across the UK, both in solo and group shows. In the past 20 year her work has been represented by several leading galleries in London and the south west.
“I feel very lucky to live in Somerset and have access to so many inspiring places to paint. My work reflects my love for places I have visited, sometimes on holidays, and sometimes on specific painting trips. I work mainly from sketches, memory and intuition, trying to recreate a feeling and atmosphere that I felt at the time. Many elements come together in making a painting successful, colour and tone, line and edge, composition and texture, along with unknown factors which make a painting special. For me the inspiration is simple. If I see something I like, I want to paint it. I paint with a direct and honest approach, I don’t paint to any kind of formula , I am driven and inspired by what I see in a landscape, and use whatever medium or technique I feel is appropriate. I paint all kinds of landscapes, in all seasons and weathers, always aiming to express the joy I found in the subject, and for it to be a true reflection of the place.”
