Great introduction to Raku. I would take this again to build upon knowledge learned. Sue and Gerry are great teachers and mentors in all aspects of clay and pots. A truly fun afternoon!

As a complete beginner to pottery courses I quickly felt comfortable in our group of five students. Bisque pots were provided for us, together with a good variety of glazes. It was fun to experiment with dipping and brushing on. Geri and Sue explained how the metal oxides could create quite unpredictable effects. We watched our pots emerge from the dramatic raku process, and scrubbed them to reveal beautiful metallic glints and subtle crackle colours. We each went home with three pots, each completely different, all with an other-worldly beauty to them. I loved the whole process and have now signed up for Fired Thoughts’ basic pottery course.

Gerry and Sue are brilliant. The taster really gives you a great idea of what you can do with clay and I have since become a regular visitor to the studio working on my own projects.

Attended my first pottery workshop on Sunday as a complete beginner and loved every minute of it. The atmosphere was very welcoming and relaxed, the whole course was very well thought out, prepared and presented to give us maximum experience in the time we had. Very informative with lots of practice using different clays and techniques including throwing a pot on the wheel! Willing help if needed but not intrusive. An excellent introduction for any beginner and will wet the appetite for more!

Just spent a rainy Sunday at the studio and I'm inspired to do more! The Clay Day workshop gave us a great introduction to different materials and methods, and we were able to have a go at several techniques. Highly enjoyable, with a good balance of expert guidance and freedom to develop our own ideas. I'll definitely be back!

Sue and Geri are fabulous. My husband and I first went to fired thoughts to make ceramic tiles for our new house I was soon addicted and wanted to learn to throw. I went back to fired thoughts and cannot express how brilliant they both are. The course became like a little sanctuary for my week. The studio is lovely and well thought out with lots of resources to help you learn. Both Geri and Sue are very knowledgeable and amazing artists in their own right, who strive to continue learning in their own field and that obviously extends into thier teaching. They are patient teachers who nurture and encourage you even if your bowl looks like a plate!

Sue and Geri have helped me use different skills and techniques to complete my projects. I have made bowls, brooches and sculptures of an owl and a turtle. Everyone does totally different work, so it's very interesting to see what's going on. Sue and Geri make me laugh!
