About the Course
Artist Sue Mann will be leading the workshop. She is a professional exhibiting artist based on the doorstep of Gower, South Wales. She is adventure happy - keen and available to travel for workshops for example visiting Norfolk twice this year, the most recent workshop was held in Anteros, Norwich as well as local public buildings for example Swansea Museum and the Egypt Centre, Swansea University, sometimes with grant provision. Sue also has experience of working in primary schools on projects and as Teaching Assistant.
She is patient, keen to encourage thinking out of the box, developing independence and holds a current enhanced DBS.
1. Introduction - What is pigment? What is paint and how is it made? Brief history of use of egg tempera, basic rules for production and survival of painting.
2. Hands on exploration with natural pigment makers such as seaweed, spices, charcoal, dried vegetation. This includes sieving, grinding and working into a paste.
3. Preparing egg for egg tempera and production of painting.

What's included in the price?
Aprons, marble/glass surfaces for grinding, mullers, brushes, pencils, palette knives, sieves, containers, painting boards, view-finders and eggs will be provided for participants' ease.
The source material will also be decided before the workshop and any illustrations or objects prepared.
Venues differ so there may be special arrangements required.
Group sizes vary. To arrange a group workshop at your house or other venue you have a 50% reduction for 8 participants and above, distance no object.
You can have a further reduction if your interest results in another group booking the experience near your area for the same week.
It is a very special hands-on, liberating experience for beginners and more advanced practitioners alike.
You will need a notebook and lunch.
