About the Course
Eco-print dyeing is a fascinating way of printing onto fabric. You will use flowers and leaves from the prairie garden, in a contact printing method that allows them to transfer their colour, texture and patterns. You will be fascinated by the effects and results you can get from a range of plants. This course is an exploration into the surprising and exciting effects that can be achieved just by wrapping plants in cloth. It is vital that you book two days for this course.
Day 1 You will create up to 6 dye bundles and after steaming and simmering you will leave them to dry naturally for a week. The plants will transfer their colour to the fabric and paper in the pot but will continue to mature over the week. If time permits you will also experiment with some cotton rag paper.
Enjoy unwrapping your fabric bundles and swoon over each other’s samples. Learn more about how to prepare your fabric for the dye process, pre/post-mordanting and after baths for altering the colours you have created. Make some more samples and also experiment with some post mordant after baths to see what extra magic happens.
If you would like to book this course please email Amanda by email via the contact form above.
