Activities involve the practical preparation of yarn hanks, scouring of fleece if needed for spinning and practical dye mixing with H & S information. There will be time to experiment with mixing colour selections and support with the dyeing of samples, either hot or cold depending on your yarn. Some yarns are provided by the College but you are encouraged to bring in your own natural yarns - see recommended suppliers below in box 4. There will be opportunities to try several methods of dyeing yarns in different ways such as dip dyeing, ombre dyeing, rainbow dyeing, tie dyeing and dyeing yarns flat, to give a variety of tonal or multicoloured yarns to use on personal projects.
