About the Course

You will learn the basics of how to prepare and maintain an Indigo dye vat. We will use 2 different Indigo vats, a Fructose and an Iron vat as well as Saxon Blue liquid Indigo. You will also learn how to prepare mordants for use with cottons and silks. You will have the opportunity to dye linen, cotton and silk fabrics with the Indigo vats. The workshop will also include a few other natural dye vats so that you can mix colours.

We will cover some Shibori resist dye methods using traditional Japanese knotting and stitching techniques for adding additional patterning to the dyed fabrics. You will go away with a hand dyed cotton silk scarf, a silk scarf, several fabric dye samples of linen and cotton materials. All fabrics and materials will be provided.

Most of my workshops are taught on a one-to-one basis so that I can provide individual instruction. Please contact me if you would like to arrange a workshop for a small group.

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. The voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
