A practical introduction to drawing skills, using a range of materials. You will be taught various aspects of drawing from observation including proportion, perspective, line and tone. Examples of historical and contemporary drawing will be discussed in class and learners are encouraged to develop a personal response to subjects including landscape, portraits, objects and photographic images.

This is a practical course and you will spend most of class time drawing. Your tutor will send out a lesson plan each week, with tasks and supporting hand-outs or video links. The course focusses on drawing from direct observation and from photographs, using a variety of materials and techniques. In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular and detailed feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
