The better informed we are the better the drawing hand becomes. This course will enable letter cutters to understand why the pen is important in the learning of letter forms.
Chris Elsey trained with Tom Perkins after 4 years at Reigate School of Art studying letter design. Chris also has a calligraphy degree from Roehampton College.
This 2.5-day workshop is mainly targeted at professional lettercutters and will focus on professional development. Students can bring their own projects to learn and refine their lettering design and develop their drawing skills - this workshop goes beyond simple layout design.
The studio has a dedicated classroom and viewing room, where students will be able to see how a working studio functions. Tom Sargeant, a past Lettering Arts Trust apprentice, will be on hand to help. After finishing his apprenticeship in 2015, Tom has been working alongside Chris in the studio.
If you have any questions, please contact the trust and we will pass your message to Chris.
If you will be redeeming a CraftCourses gift voucher on this course, the voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
