During this 12 week course you will work through a series of exercises each week to build up a collection of experimental sketches. Fill a sketchbook full of experimental lines and marks in different mediums, using 1 'view' as your starting point. You will also be encouraged to research work by artists such as Hokusai and Monet.
Who is the course for:
This course is suitable to all levels as we will work through simple tasks to explore the mediums you have at home!
The course is every Monday morning 10-11:30am for 12 weeks.
What will the course cover:
Use viewfinders to identify multiple views and compositions.
Trace and repeat designs.
Sketch with pencil, charcoal and ink.
Create colour mixes using your choice of medium.
Explore warm and cool colour combinations.
Work on coloured backgrounds, plus lots more!

You will also have access to Tricia Johnson's Student Chatroom, where you can post your work, ask questions and comment as part of an online community of artists supported by Tricia outside of the session time.
Suitable paper or sketchbook for your chosen mediums.
Drawing media (this could include; graphite pencils, coloured pencils, wax crayons, oil pastels, chalk pastels, charcoal, drawing pens, felt-tip pens...etc.)
Paint media (any; watercolour, gouache, acrylic or coloured inks)
Glue (PVA or glue stick)
Brushes, pots, palette, kitchen roll
1 image of a view (landscape/seascape/cityscape) you would like to explore with drawing and painting.
Tuition offered via: Zoom.
You will need online access to the above platforms via a computer, tablet or phone with a webcam & audio and to be able to view the session at your workstation or studio space.
