About the Course

Develop your own personal vision through working from observation and on individual projects. Improve your drawing and painting skills by working in a range of media: inks, oils, acrylics and mixed media. Suitable for all levels, including beginners .

You will be supported in developing your artwork through conversation with the tutor; and set topics will be provided as an optional starting point. Personal experimentation and the use of sketchbooks will be encouraged for testing ideas and gathering inspiration. Studio time will also be supplemented by material demonstrations, group discussion, peer feedback, and gallery visits.

Beginning students will be provided with set topics for studio work, based on your personal level of development. Returning students will have the opportunity to develop self-directed projects in conversation with the tutor.

Entry requirements
It is helpful to have some experience of drawing and/or painting before joining this course. Complete beginners may like to try one or more of the following: If Only I Could Draw! If Only I Could Paint! The Drawing course: Beginners, The Painting Course: Beginners, A Crash Course in Drawing or A Crash Course in Painting.

What you need to know before you enrol
This class takes place in C33 which is accessible by stairs and lift.

Demonstrations and studio work do not demand a particular level of fitness, and activities can be adapted for individual circumstances where needed.

What you will need for your class
This class takes place in a well-equipped art studio with easels and tables. The course fee does not include art materials and you can bring your own or purchase these from your tutor at cost price each week. For example, cartridge paper is 40p for an A1 sheet. Your tutor will give you guidance at the first session.
