Develop a print design project with experimental combinations of techniques using silkscreen printing with stitching, quilting, flock and foil. Print shapes using paper stencils, overprinting to create interesting effects and colour blends. Develop designs to expose on to a photo emulsion coated screen and overprint on to earlier stencil prints using a simple registration method to make exciting, rhythmic, repeated patterns. Employ hand sewing or machine stitching and embroidery techniques to embellish and decorate the surface. Quilt using contrasting, tonal or coloured threads to enhance the designs or use foil and flock to enrich and augment.
Refunds are not available on this booking. Start dates may be amended on request.
After looking at and discussing examples and samples, the tutor will demonstrate how to stretch a silk screen and explore different methods of silk screen printing including exposing an image onto a photosensitive screen and also experiment using techniques of cutting stencils. Learn to print combining different screens and experiment with colour. Students will be able to print onto paper or fabric and once designs have been printed there will be an option to stitch, and embroider to embellish and decorate, adding a variety of interesting surface effects.
