About the Course

This course looks at observational drawing of still life subjects in pen and ink. It starts with the basics explaining relative tone and how different weights of line affect a visual image. We will then move on to experiment with rendering texture in pen and ink and how texture interacts with tone. As part of the course we will spend short periods of time exploring this wonderful place to find interesting subjects that we will draw back at the studio. The drawing exercises are split into manageable chunks leading you through the process of collecting visual information and creating simple, effective drawings. Focusing on simple concepts and practical techniques, this course is suitable for everyone whether you are a beginner, a more experienced student, or are new to pen and ink.

Debora is an enthusiastic art tutor with over 30 years’ experience. All of her courses concentrate on simple concepts and practical techniques and are suitable for everyone; no previous experience is required. Every session has planned content and takes varying approaches to help students build up their own techniques and style. Debora and draws and paints daily (mainly in pen an ink) and undertakes illustrations for small commissions. She is a Professional Associate of the SAA.

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
