About the Course
Use digital cameras and other recording devices such as smart phones, to create content for social media sites and blogs. You will learn how to capture, store and upload images to social media sites such as Facebook and YouTube.
By the end of the course you will be able to
Use smart phone/digital camera effectively to achieve a range of visual effects
Create photographs in response to a given task set in the lesson
Build an online presence by producing an album/mood board uploaded to Facebook and Pinterest
Hash-tagging images and key-wording for search engine optimisation (SEO)
Edit images using Lightroom, including copyrighting your images
Class format and activities
• Tutor Demonstrations & Student Practice Step-by-step
• Tutor and student presentations
• Practical Assignments (alone, in pairs and group work) observed and assisted by tutor
• Group discussions
• Quizzes – mix of visual annotation and written/multi choice to check your own learning
In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.

Your own digital image taking device such as a good Smart phone camera or a modern digital camera.
What you need to know before you enrol
It is good if you have an idea of what platforms of social media you intend to use for your images, but ok if note as we shall cover a variety on the day's workshop.
If you are bringing along a digital camera rather than a smart phone it is preferable if you are familiar with taking images with it and its general basic controls.
What you will need for your class
Your own digital image-taking device such as a good Smart phone camera or a modern digital camera, (and its instruction manual). Fully charged battery and clean memory card:for camera, or sufficient storage space: smart phone. Notebook and pen.
Optional/preferential: pre-register yourself with all or some of the following: a Facebook account, twitter name, Instagram and Pinterest.
