About the Course
Develop print design with silkscreen. This short course uses existing screens made previously on Discover and/or Explore Silkscreen courses and combines them with paper stencils. Print interesting layered effects and have fun foiling and flocking to embellish the surface. Bring your own fabric, plain or already patterned or purchase from us in the studio.
By the end of the course you will be able to
Develop ideas adding decorative marks employing a silkscreen
Cut stencil shapes out of paper to enhance your prints
Silk screen print onto fabric using photo screen and paper stencils with a good understanding of how to register and overprint print in a combination of different ways
Print adhesive binder using existing screens and stencils
Use a heat press to adhere the flock and or foil and sparkle to your prints
Class format and activities
Students will develop their ideas by overprinting and adding decorative effects. These include the use of specialist binders and adhesives to enable foiling and flocking.
Students will learn how to use the heat press in foiling and flocking techniques, adding sparkle to the prints.
Constructive and supportive feedback from your tutor will help you succeed during the class.
In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
Enthusiasm for print and a degree of manual dexterity.
The course is suitable for complete beginners and more experienced printmakers who want to try out new ideas and experiment with some specialist silkscreen printing techniques.
What you need to know before you enrol
Health & Safety information will be given at the start of the course and subsequent lessons where necessary. You will be asked to sign a form declaring that you agree to follow procedures as advised.

What you will need for your class
Bring your own apron. The course fee includes most studio consumables (ink, screens cleaning materials, mesh) but you will have to pay for any fabric, available to buy in the studio at cost price. Further requirements will be discussed at the start of the class.
Any other specific materials will have to be provided by the learner.
