This course gives you the opportunity to explore your creativity, development of design ideas and millinery techniques. You will investigate materials, techniques and processes, adapting ideas to suit your level of ability and approach. The aim is to learn and experience a new way of handling material. Explore fresh perspectives of creating 3D shapes and forms with focus to gain understanding of materials and/or techniques of your choice. Consider colour, texture and mood qualities as appropriate for your theme. Create a final headpiece that has been developed through tests and development.

This course will be in-centre with students working at individual workstations with social distancing. After examining and discussing examples and samples, the tutor will demonstrate different techniques, and how to safely use equipment.
Hand-outs and other materials will be used as support for learning via Microsoft Teams. Teaching will be in groups and on an individual, one-to-one basis and you will be encouraged to develop your creativity. In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the learning outcomes above. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals i.e.: progression to an advanced- level course
