About the Course
Have you ever wanted to make your own clothes but you just don’t know where to start? This half day course will cover all the basics you need to know and understand before you start sewing. We will cover:
- Making the best choices when it comes to fabrics and colours to suit you
- How to take your own measurements
- Which garments are best for beginners
- Choosing the best pattern for your shape and style
- How to read a commercial sewing pattern
- How to make simple alterations to ensure that all important fit
By the end of the course, you will have the knowledge and confidence to choose the right patterns and fabrics to begin your dressmaking journey.
This course is suitable for the complete beginner and for those looking to refresh their knowledge.
You will need to bring:
- Tape measure
- Pencil and notebook

What's included in the price?
Tea, Coffee, biscuits and cold refreshments will be available throughout the day. Lunch is not provided although The Phoenix Tea Rooms, just next door, provide an array of meals, light lunches and snacks. Alternatively, there is a fridge and microwave in the studio kitchen for you to use if you prefer to bring your own lunch.
