About the Course
A workshop to learn the basic principles of devore, equipping you with the skills to produce either a selection of samples, a cushion cover or scarf.
During the workshop you will be introduced to the materials, equipment and processes required to produce the devore effect. You’ll learn how to translate your design onto a cloth, create a stencil to print with, explore the different methods of applying devore paste (block printing, hand painting & stencil application) and how to ‘burning out’ your designs.
We will be working on white silk viscose velvet. If time permits, we can dye your finished item in the workshop. Alternatively you can leave it to be dyed in your chosen colour and the finished item it will be mailed to you.
Bring along your design ideas, sketches and photos to help you create your designs.
The workshop takes place on Saturday 6th April 2019.
Start time: 9:30 Ends: 4:30pm (participants are asked to arrive promptly for a 9:30 start).

Your tutor will be Emma Jackson, a felt maker with over fifteen years experience teaching, designing & making felt for her award winning textiles company, Silversoles. The workshop will take place in her home studio in South Birmingham with a small group of no more than five. Please note: the studio is situated at the bottom of a garden with one step up to access the building.
