A wonderful gift for your friend, partner or mum - book my relaxed and informal Cyanotype Table Lantern Workshop which is suitable for beginners and is a lovely way to spend a creative few hours. For £65 per person, you will go home with a botanical-inspired Prussian Blue table lantern that you will have printed with your own fair hand! You'll be amazed at the beauty of this 19th Century light-sensitive process which was used by architects, engineers and scientists to copy drawings and is the original 'blueprint' process. By mixing Ferric Ammonium Citrate and Potassium Ferricyanide with sunlight, beautiful (Prussian) blue images are created. (Chemicals are odourless and harmless when used under normal conditions).
Working in subdued light, you will learn how to light-sensitise card, place objects on top, such as leaves, grasses and feathers and then we will go outside to expose them to light to create a selection of beautiful blue prints. I will then show you how to construct a lantern, using one of your designs and some light-sensitised cotton.
Workshops are run on demand and cost £65 per person. It would make a lovely Birthday gift. There will just be the two of you - and me guiding you along. PLEASE BOOK 3 DAYS AHEAD OF THE DATE YOU REQUIRE.
In the event of rainy weather, I may need to cancel the workshop as it is a technique that requires good UV levels. In which case, you will be offered the chance to re-book at another time.
