About the Course
Kingfisher Craft Club every Thursday morning from 1030am to 1230pm
Come and be part of our social group and craft in a beautiful rural setting with infinity countryside views over the fishing lake. In the warm, sunny weather, we can sit outside on the patio which is a private area (remember to bring your spf lotion or sun hat!). There is no charge for Thursday morning Craft Club, but it does operate based on a minimum of 6 as a workroom is booked for this purpose. In order to book your place, please telephone the organiser on the mobile number supplied.
Please let us know if you wish to learn any particular craft and we can arrange a date and a time to run any extra sessions or workshops with experienced tutors who will request payment for their time. If you are having difficulties with any crochet or knitting patterns, the Tutor would be pleased to sit and work through these problems with you at a time and date subject to mutual convenience. Retreats can also be organised as the Kingfisher has its own 30-room hotel accommodation.
Contact organiser: Christine Barraclough - Traditional Handcrafter. Christine was always surrounded by and immersed in textiles, needles, hooks, treadle and electric sewing machines from birth as her great grandmothers, grandmothers and mother (who was a dressmaker) utilised these crafts skills to make clothing and home furnishings. These creative women passed down their knowledge through the generations. Adding to what Christine learned from these relatives was a natural curiosity in other traditional craft skills. To enhance presentation and teaching skills, Christine obtained a City & Guilds Certificate for Teaching in Further Education (where she has taught both children and adults over the years) and acquired a City & Guilds Textile Design certificate with the intention of obtaining a Degree in Textile Design. She is also a member of many Guilds, including Knitting & Crochet, Spinners Weavers & Dyers, Embroiderers and Quilters, and is associated with the UK Hand Knitting Association who promote knitting and crochet skills throughout the UK. Christine still attends workshops and talks given by her peers who also have the expertise and knowledge in such heritage crafts.
Craft club members can also use the hotel restaurant and leisure/beauty facilities, subject to guest day rate and pre-booking. After the craft sessions, if you do wish to use the golf course, sauna/steam rooms, you will need to bring appropriate clothing and footwear.
Please note; the Kingfisher Hotel, Golf & Country Club is off Buckingham Road A422, north of Stony Stratford, Milton Keynes, on the Buckinghamshire / South Northamptonshire borders.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
