Crochet beginners workshop with TheaRose – Mini Makes



This is a 5-week workshop to learn how to crochet.

Each session will take place on a Thursday evening 7 pm – 9 pm at the lovely TheaRose Textile Design Studio based at Lydeard St Lawrence, Somerset. The Design Studio is located in the middle of the village and can be easily accessed off the A358.

Thea is a Textile Lecturer with a specialism in knitwear design and knitted textiles. She is a graduate of Nottingham Trent University and a Winner of the Graduate Fashion Week Visionary Knitwear Award. Thea loves working with colour and pattern to create unique and inspiring knitted designs.

What you will learn:
- How to get started with crochet
- How to hold the crochet hook and yarn
- How to read a crochet pattern along key terminology needed to complete further projects
- Have a go at experimenting with different yarns and learn how to source suitable yarns for future projects
- Different stitches including Chain, Slip Stitch, Double Crochet, Half -Trebles and Trebles
- Crochet in a line, in a round and also the classic granny square technique
- 5 Mini Makes to complete within the sessions or in your own time

There are places for 5 people in the workshop. The small group size is perfect for total beginners as there is the opportunity for lots of questions and demonstrations with 1 to 1 support.

Dates for 2022:
- Start on Thursday 10th February until Thursday 17th March (Thursday 24th February will be a week off due to School Half Term)
- Start on Thursday 28th April until Thursday 26th May
- Start on Thursday 9th June until Thursday 7th July
- Start on Thursday 8th September - Thursday 6th October

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.

What's included in the price?

The cost includes all materials and instructions to complete the full workshop. Also refreshments of tea, coffee and biscuits will be available at each session.

Each week you will be given instructions to take home to practice along with the mini project to complete if you would like. These instructions are printed differently depending on if you are left or right-handed to help with the learning.
