About the Course

Take inspiration from the paintings of artists Ellie Moore and Young Maeng at King Street Studios and Art Gallery

Stepping In, Seeing Through

A creative writing workshop with an emphasis on poetry, in which we will explore what makes us more authentic in today’s world. Through writing exercises we will reflect upon our relationship to technology, social constructs and ways of seeing. Enquire of and explore our behaviours and reflections through work with the paintings of artists Ellie Moore and Hyeyoung Maeng. Both artist’s work makes enquiry about how and what we see. Their distinct gaze in which the micro and the macro are painted gives us a strong setting in which to ground our writing work.

Sunday 3rd Feb 2pm – 4.30pm

Ruth Quinn is a poet of the west coast. Born and raised in South Wales, she now lives in the North West and cannot consider living too far from the sea. Her poetry captures complex moments of living and dying and our visceral responses to these experiences. She has been runner up in a number of small poetry prizes. She works as a Counsellor and body centred therapist in Lancaster and has a previous life as a teacher of drama and theatre.
