Description

Explore the wonderful world of colour!

This workshop aims to take you through simple colour-mixing techniques to enable you to paint with confidence. Have fun working through a range of exercises in a relaxed & informative way. Perfect for beginners, there will be lots of demos and step-by-step instruction.

We’ll start off with the absolute basics of colour mixing using just a small set of primary colours, creating a wide range of tints and tones – you will never need to buy lots of different tubes of paint ever again!

From colour swatches to creative compositions, this is a fun way to play with pigments, learn a little colour theory and create some mini works of art along the way!

You can work in watercolour, gouache or acrylics – the emphasis is on understanding colour rather than specific paint techniques.

What to bring:

A packed lunch

Watercolour or mixed media paper (200gsm or heavier) – several sheets of A4

Acrylics: Process Cyan, Process Magenta, Process Yellow, Black, White (I would recommend Daler Rowney System 3)

OR

Watercolour: Phthalo Blue, Permanent Rose, Cadmium Yellow Light or Lemon Yellow, Paynes grey or Black, White (white gouache is best)

OR

Gouache: Primary Red, Primary Blue, Primary Yellow, White, Black

Brushes – I would recommend a flat synthetic & a round synthetic.

Dip pen or feather

Mixing palette / plate

Kitchen roll, water pots
