Description

Gill works with Collage to create one off artworks and designs for textile print. In this workshop she will share the techniques she uses for you to create your own striking collage. You will start by making a set of painted, textured papers using a variety of media, including paints, pastels and watercolour pencils. We will then use these lovely textured papers to cut and assemble the collage.

Working with collage gives you the freedomm to explore colour combinations and composition, allowing you to reposition the motifs as you work. The collage will be based on an image that is personal to you, this could be a landscape, still life or image of your garden. Please bring an image to work from, either a photo, sketch or magazine cutting.

Gill studied textile design at the University of Ulster and worked as a textile designer in the print industry for 15 years. She now works freelance as a surface pattern designer and art educator from her studio in Silverdale. To create her designs for the home furnishing market Gill collages the motifs and uses photoshop to create patterns with them. As she loves to get her hands sticky she creates one off collages, working with painted papers, and pages from old books.

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 4 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
