About the Course
** New for 2019 **
Portrait Workshops run every 1st Friday of the month from 12.30-3.30pm at Embsay Village Hall. Subjects vary each month depending on the medium (pencil/graphite; pastel; watercolour) with each subject being chosen to develop or build on drawing skills such as seeing/creating tone and texture or laying down base coat and layering in pastel or working wet-in-wet or detailed styles for watercolour.
Whilst these are all stand alone workshops they are an ideal way to develop the skills learned in the Starter workshops.
Workshops are limited to a maximum of 6 artists of all abilities to ensure there is plenty of time for personal attention yet still creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere so you can create your portrait.
Working in a small group of up to six you will find out how to use the various pencils and tools available to you to create this striking image of an elephant. You have a choice of working from the drawing (already translated for you) or the original photo leaving you free to make your own marks and interpretation.
February's subject is a beautiful craggy skinned elephant's head which lends itself to seeing and creating the depth of tones and textures to create a realistic drawing from a drawing - images that have already been translated into a drawing are an easy, less stressful way into learning drawing techniques. More confident artists can work from the original image if preferred - both options are provided.
Kate will happily provide an outline ready for you to work from or you can draw the image yourself using 'Tracedown' paper. Either method will remove any anxieties and keep the focus on using the tools and enjoying the process so that the end drawing looks amazing!
March's subject is a fox... more details later or if you can't wait take a quick peek at Kate's website.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
