This course will introduce you to the freestyle process of felt making (and it should also give you a good upper body workout!) It will cover how to blend colours and introduce pattern by adding extra yarns and/or threads to the layers of wool fibre before felting begins. Once your individual fabric has been produced, be inspired by the scarves that have already been created. Consider how you will go about embellishing yours by adding applique or stitch, or cutting it up and manipulating it back together through plaiting, weaving or twisting – the choice is yours!
The aim is to give you the confidence to take these techniques forward and to continue to develop these processes on your own.
You will learn the following techniques: Carding; how to layer the wool fibre; a freestyle method of felting; applique, hand embroidery techniques and fabric manipulation; design planning
The course is designed for a range of abilities including beginners.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 4 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
