We all throw away the selvedge as a rejected textile but in this one day workshop, you will be able to turn this unwanted remnant into a beautiful piece of fabric art.
After a recent commission using vintage Welsh wool, we are left with lots of selvedge and offcuts which are just too good, and lovely, to throw away. These beautiful wool remnants will be available to use to be upcycled into your own piece of Welsh art.
Other fabrics and offcuts, including denim, wool, cotton and leather, will be available for you to use but feel free to bring your own pieces too if you wish.
The selvedge fabric will be layered over each other to create a wonderful textured piece which could be embellished with buttons, gems or other notions. You could also hand or machine sew into your artwork and even incorporate some Sashiko embroidery techniques which would be demonstrated during the class.
By the end of the day you will have created a beautiful piece of upcycled fabric artwork for you to take home and frame.
