Learn to make your own copper jewellery from copper art clay - no previous experience is necessary.
You will learn how to roll & cut copper base metal clay, add textures, layering, drying, kiln firing, finishing pre and post firing including burnishing, polishing and adding a patina to the surface of the silver.
The copper clay which we use for this workshop has a fairly short firing time which will be done in the kiln. You will be able to see how the kiln is set up and programmed for firing.
A demonstration of torch firing with this type of art clay will be given during the kiln firing so you know what can be achieved in a home environment if you do not have a kiln.
Other topics which can be discussed, demonstrated and practiced during the kiln firing time are available (and can be flexible depending on the needs and interests of the small group workshop):
Soldering metals including copper and silver
Cutting metals with a jeweller's saw
Mechanical finishing with a rotary tool such as a Dremel, including using polishing pastes
Help with ideas and deciding designs is normally done on the day so you can come and find out about the clay before finalising what you would like to to make in the early part of the workshop. You will however be given guidance before you join the workshop so you can arrive with some ideas to develop.
Maximum number on workshop is 4 adults
