Corn Dollies are a form of straw work made as part of harvest customs and decoration. During the day you will be shown traditional methods of making a Corn Dolly and create your own handmade gifts. Michael recently appeared on Channel 4 in Kirsty Allsops Christmas Decorating competition with his Corn Dolly creations.
This course is ideal for those with a love of traditional English crafts.
Mike Sprigg started making corn dolly’s at the age of 8, when he was taught by his granddad. He had almost forgotten all about it until a few years ago, but have steadily built up a decent portfolio of different shapes, sizes and designs mostly from his imagination. Mike has shown at Yesterdays Farming which has been held on the Dillington house grounds for the past two years, last year he won the best original craft in show. Mike is looking forward to passing his knowledge on.
