About the Course

Would you like to be able to make your own handcrafted Christmas decorations? Or perhaps you are just ready to get festive! If so, then this copper wire Christmas decorations course might be for you.

This course is aimed at the beginner, as it seeks to concentrate on essential elements for wirework. During this one day course, you will be introduced to the tools, materials and techniques to produce three different hanging Christmas decorations and a candle vine. The course can be taken as a stand-alone course for those wanting to start wirework, but as it teaches different elements of basic wirework, it can also be used as a follow on from the Beginners wirework 1 day jewellery course for those wishing to accomplish more at this level before moving on to more complex things.

In the morning you will learn to make three hanging decorations using coloured copper wire, gemstones and crystals for that bit of sparkle all suitable to use on the Christmas tree or in the window: The items you will make are a round decoration with hanging crystal centre, a wirework poinsettia, and wirework hanging holly leaves. In the afternoon you will try your hand at making a wirework and gemstone candle vine.

On this course you will learn how o make wirework Christmas shapes. Learn to work with smaller beads and wire them to a frame. How to enhance your work with crystals as well as gemstones. How to use medium gauge wire for simple wire wrapping techniques.

The course runs from 09.30 - 15.30, and begins with an introduction to copper wire, its properties and how to choose the correct gauge for your projects. After this, we will briefly look at the toolkit that we will be using and discuss each tool, how it is used most effectively to produce the best results and to protect your hands.

We will then go through each of the tutorials, in turn, to help you produce some beautiful copper wire items to hang on your tree, use with your candles at home, or to give as gifts.

At the end of the course, you will have the knowledge and skills to use basic wire working tools and to create a number of wire and beaded items.

The course is set on our beautiful boat with views overlooking the river Thames in Gloucestershire. Places on each course are limited to ensure everyone gets individual attention, I keep classes to a maximum of four people only.
