Contact Name: Lyn Kirkland
Unit 5, St George's Workshops
Course Length: One day 10:00 to 16:00
5 star rating, 7 reviewers.
A one day introductory workshop for a maximum of TWO persons £120 per person. Sessions are planned on demand, so please contact me for a mutually convenient date.
I run the day from my new workshop on the Isle of Portland, Dorset. I provide all materials, a light lunch and drinks throughout the day.
During the session you will work on a hand-crafted cradled birch ply panel. You will learn about the tools, materials and methods of creating your encaustic wax painting in a safe environment.
The day will begin with a short introduction to R&F encaustic paints, followed by a demonstration of building up layers of wax medium, fusing the wax with a heat gun.
I will discuss various techniques for example, shellac burn, photo-encaustic, mixed media collaging and wax casting and encaustic mono printing. You will have ample time to experiment and will leave with a finished panel and lots of ideas for your own studio.
This session is ideal for existing artists who are looking at ways of integrating encaustic wax into their current medium, or novices who are intrigued by this relatively unique medium in the UK.
