Description

This course over 2 days is designed for those with basic weave, knit and crochet knowledge. The aim is to develop existing knowledge and confidence. For those that are more established in their craft will continue to push their skills and understanding to a deeper level of investigation in this workshop.

The one-day in person course focuses on the design process, breaking core design development into simple key manageable stages. The course takes you on a journey researching initial concept, designing a personal brief, translating research, creating mood and colour boards, communicating and interpreting ideas of colour, texture, pattern and repeat.
You will be encouraged to reflect and evaluate your ideas throughout the process, focusing on your strengths and interests as these skills are key in any designers’ personal growth.

Finally, you will be guided in translating your ideas into constructed cloth, be that weave, knit or crochet. At the end of the physical workshop, each student will be provided with their own individual targets, specific to their individual projects to continue working on until the ‘Digital Meet,’ these you will carry out with continued tutor support if needed.

Sharon will share her own design approaches and working methods to visually ‘break down’ the process. Exploration, inquisitive experimentation and above all fun are the focus, promoting a diagnostic approach to both materials and methods to produce highly individual outcomes.
