Create improvised textile art using fusible collage construction as a fresh way to look at the design process.
In this relaxing and inspiring workshop at Pontardawe Arts Centre, you will design and complete a small collage block, which can be used as a starting point for a larger project. This is a great workshop for; developing new directions in colour, working in a series and experimenting with pattern, shape and colour. The techniques and ideas that Bethan teaches in this workshop form the basis for much of her work.
Bethan Ash is an experienced quilt artist who has been stitching and making art quilts for over thirty years. During this time, she has won many awards and exhibited her work in prestigious exhibitions worldwide, including ‘Quilt National’ at the Dairy Barn, USA.
She has given workshops both internationally and in the UK and has also worked as artist in-residence on prestigious community projects.
She is eager to encourage beginners to learn her improvised way of working by fusing and layering fabrics to make stitched collage and to develop their enjoyment and pleasure in the craft.
