The course will provide you with the opportunity to further develop your skills and embed the general principles of clothes making and sewing using a purchased commercial pattern.
You will be familiar with sewing but not ready to move onto the Intermediate / Advanced Clothesmaking. Attending this course will build your knowledge and skills as you work on slightly more advanced garment types than offered in the Clothesmaking Beginners.
The Autumn Term will be a skirt, Spring term is a top, Summer Term will be trousers. Progression to Intermediate / Advanced level is possible once you have achieved competence at using commercial patterns and making simple garments with a degree of and independence.

Teaching is delivered ONLINE both as a whole class, small-group discussions and teaching, using video demonstrations and external links, photos and explanations of each stage of construction, as well as group discussion/ troubleshooting and weekly 1-2-1 Q and A with the tutor. In order to ensure you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular constructive and supportive feedback from them. There is an experienced and well-staffed Morley IT Department which will assist you setting up for the online course. Good attendance and punctuality is crucial. You will not achieve the desired learning outcomes if you cannot attend fully. Please inform your tutor regarding any lateness or absences.
However, as the demos and much of the content will be available from the start of the course, it is anticipated that some students might choose to work independently between classes, particularly if they miss a class. Sessions will run 1.30pm – 4 pm online + 1 demonstration video and/or link to be sent per week. So, you will receive at least 3 hrs total active teaching and learning per week.
The tutor will provide a "FREE check-in session" with students to ensure you all have the right materials, access to the class and to answer any questions before the first full session the week after.
