About the Course
Make your own personalised clay house sign or dinner plate using the traditional hand-building 'slabbing' technique. Experiment with decorative surfaces using coloured slips, stamping, sgrafitto, masking, stencilling and textural mark-making.
Working in an informal studio environment, above an antique furniture restorer, local artist-teacher Louise Gridley will guide you through the design and making process using clay. Creative surface decoration techniques will be explored to enable you to realise your own, unique design. Make a ceramic outcome for yourself or as a personalised gift. Workshops are suitable for all abilities.
All ceramic ware is bisque fired and glazed with a transparent glaze to enhance surface decoration. Fired ware can be picked up from the studio at a later date by prior arrangement. Alternatively, postal service is available at a small, additional cost.
Louise has been teaching Art since 2001; she is a practicing artist who loves to engage her local community through the arts. She has experience of teaching art to all ages and abilities through her work in the primary, secondary and further education sectors. She is passionate about the arts and loves engaging others through her energetic, fun teaching approach.
Engage your 'inner creativity' and enjoy the calming, therapeutic qualities of working 'hands-on' with clay. Register as an individual or with a friend for a small-group workshop (up to 6 people) or as a larger group (up to 12 people). Mobile workshops can be arranged for those wishing to use their own venue.
Choose a workshop to suit you. Other examples include:
