About the Course
Head workshop with Kenny Hunter
This forthcoming class run by sculptor Kenny Hunter will focus on the human head as a starting point to create an artwork. Whether you want to make a portrait or likeness of an individual or develop an artwork on its own terms, this class will support your ambition through the study, observation and measurement of the human head.
The head being the focus of human communication and emotion, is therefore an important subject in Art History and continues to have relevance today. Kenny will encourage you to build from the centre out, studying the underlying anatomy before adding character, surface detail and individuality.
If you intend to do a portrait of a known individual then please bring with you photographs from a multitude of angles including front, back, side and three quarters. It is also helpful to have images shot from below and above.
If you intend to work more intuitively with the clay there will be three dimensional visual aids available such as skulls, plaster casts etc.
10-11am Meeting with Kenny to observe and discuss the human head as a subject in Art. Sculptures of heads will be on display to support this event.
